Bioengineering

Learn about Bioengineering in Beyond Sosaria

Bioengineering allows players to craft up pets using DNA samples from any creature they can kill. It's a long process, but the end result is a crafted pet that you can further level up from generations 1-5.

Leveling up your pet all the way requires breeding of like-generational pet types, and there are several sub-items that can affect the way your pet grows, evolves, fights and protects.

DNA Samples

DNA Samples come in the following varieties:

DNA Samples can be found in creature loot, and from any creature you can kill (even champions). When hovered over a DNA Sample, the creature type is listed below it's name. It will take several DNA samples to bioengineer a pet, so collect these as wanted/needed.

DNA Samples can be found on roughly 1/10 corpses.

Petri Dish

Petri Dish is used to bioengineer a pet from DNA Samples that you collect. Petri Dishes can also be upgraded in a variety ways, which will change the way your pet is birthed into the world upon completion.

Petri Dish Properties

Out of being Enhanced, Fortified, Precise, or Agile - a Petri Dish may only be up to two of the listed.

Preparing a Petri Dish For Creating Life

Your Petri Dish requires 100 DNA Samples of the same creature type to be ready to create life as your new pet. Add DNA Samples by doing the following:

Contamination

If your Petri Dish becomes contaminated, an already-committed DNA sample in the Petri Dish will die off every minute that passes. To cure the contamination in a Petri Dish, you must use Antibiotics - by double-clicking the antibiotics, and targeting the contaminated Petri Dish.

If contamination kills every committed DNA Sample in the Petri Dish, the Petri Dish will be destroyed.

Antibiotics

Antibiotics are found in the biocrafting crafting menu. To attempt crafting antibiotics, you'll need:

Petri Dish Upgrades

Your Petri Dish can have up to two upgrades of the following:

Enhanced

The pet gains xp twice as fast.

Implemented by adding a Petri Dish Augment (Enhanced) to your petri dish.

Fortified

The pet starts with greater strength, hits, parrying, and wrestling.

Implemented by adding a Petri Dish Augment (Fortified) to your petri dish.

Agile

The pet starts with greater dexterity, tactics and anatomy.

Implemented by adding a Petri Dish Augment (Agile) to your petri dish.

Precise

The pet starts with greater intelligence, evaluating intelligence and meditation.

Implemented by adding a Petri Dish Augment (Precise) to your petri dish.

*The above augments are created using a Bioengineering Kit, and require at least 300 alchemy to craft.

Augment of Power

Like the above Petri Dish upgrades, augments of power can be applied, but do not count towards the two-count limit like the others. You can apply up to 5 Petri Dish Augment (Power). The higher the power applied to the Petri Dish, the higher the scaler for skills/stats will be for your pet when it levels up.

How To Obtain

Augments of Power drop on a dungeon overlord's corpse, only if it Demigod level. One augment will drop for each Demigod slain.

Creating Life

Once your Petri Dish has all of the required DNA Samples committed, and you are finished upgrading the Petri Dish, simply double click the Petri Dish.

If you are successful, a pet egg will be created and will appear in your backpack, ready to hatch. If you fail at bioengineering, your Petri Dish will become contaminated.

With your pet egg, you have a choice. You can double click it to create your new pet, or you can sell it to other players!

Life created through Bioengineering adheres to the following:

Leveling Your Pet

To level your pet up, simply kill monsters with it. When your pet gains xp, it will show above your pet's head. When your pet levels up, you will see an effect, and your pet's stats and skills will adjust based on the path set by it's Petri Dish (Fortified, Agile, or Precise).

Pet Generations

Each time your bioengineered pet reaches level 100, they are eligible to breed with the same creature type, of the same generation. When a new generation is started, the pet goes back to level 1.

The maximum generation a pet can achieve is 5.

Pet Abilities

Your bioengineered pet gets one ability point to spend, per generation, once level 100 is achieved for that generation. Some greater abilities cost more than one ability point to unlock, so it may be wise to save the points until you've reached the generation for your goals of your pet.

Since your pet can only achieve generation 5, it can only ever have a maximum of 5 ability points to spend.

Ability Point Management

Since pets can only reach Generation 5, they have a maximum of 5 ability points to spend. This creates interesting strategic choices:

Mana Costs and Cooldowns

Each ability has both an acquisition cost (ability points) and a usage cost (mana): - Basic abilities: 25-60 mana per use - Intermediate abilities: 40-90 mana per use
- Advanced abilities: 100-180 mana per use - Ultimate abilities: 200-1000 mana per use

All abilities have a default 30-second cooldown to prevent spamming while maintaining tactical gameplay.

How Abilities Work

Activation

Bioengineered pet abilities activate automatically based on various triggers: - Combat triggers: When attacking or being attacked - Health triggers: When health drops below certain thresholds
- Situational triggers: Based on enemy types or environmental conditions - Think triggers: Random chance during combat every few seconds

Ability Scaling

Abilities scale with your pet's: - Generation level: Higher generation pets use abilities more effectively - Stats: Intelligence affects mana-based abilities, Strength affects physical ones - Skills: Relevant skills enhance ability power and reduce mana costs

Breeding and Abilities

When breeding pets: - Inherited traits: Some genetic predispositions may influence available abilities - Generation requirements: Both parents must be same generation and creature type - Ability retention: Abilities are tied to the individual pet, not inherited

Strategy Considerations

Early Game (Generations 1-2): - Focus on basic utility and defensive abilities - Choose abilities that complement your playstyle - Consider abilities that help with leveling efficiency

Mid Game (Generations 3-4): - Can afford intermediate tier abilities - Begin specializing in a particular combat role - Balance offense, defense, and utility based on needs

End Game (Generation 5): - Access to ultimate abilities with 5 points saved - Can create highly specialized builds - Consider cosmic or evolution abilities for maximum power

Popular Build Archetypes:

The Tank: Hardened Carapace + Energy Barrier + Rapid Regeneration The Assassin: Camouflage + Shadow Bolt + Lightning Strike
The Supporter: Pack Leader + Healing Aura + Status Cleansing The Destroyer: Death Ray (save all 5 points for maximum damage) The Cosmic Entity: Transcendence (save all points for ultimate evolution)

Advanced Features

Ability Combinations

Some abilities work synergistically: - Metamorphic + Adaptive: Shape-shifting creatures that adapt to threats - Hive Mind + Quantum: Network consciousness across dimensions - Temporal + Reality: Time manipulation with physics alteration - Symbiotic + Evolution: Rapidly evolving parasitic bonds

Rare Abilities

Certain abilities have special requirements: - Transcendence: Requires pet to have defeated cosmic-level enemies - Perfect Evolution: Only available after mastering multiple basic evolutions - Universal Constants: Requires understanding of advanced physics (high Intelligence)

Ability Research

Players can discover new ability combinations by: - Experimenting with different DNA sources - Using augments from powerful creatures - Reaching maximum power levels in Petri Dishes - Breeding pets with complementary abilities

Breeding Your Pet

To breed your pet and get the next generation egg, use the command [biobreed, and then target your pet, then target a second pet of the same creature type, same generation and same level. The owner of both pets will receive an egg, and if one player owns both pets - they get both eggs.
